The Star Wars franchise and the Angry Birds franchise have a lot in common. Both are successful in their realms. One is a movie, one is about to become a movie. Both have become merchandising titans. It was only a matter of time before these two universes took notice of each other and combined forces. Which they have done in Angry Birds Star Wars.
Angry Birds Star Wars takes the best of the Angry Birds games and puts a Star Wars twist on it by morphing the birds and pigs into familiar Star Wars characters. Like in the Angry Birds game, each bird has their own power. The Luke Skywalker bird can utilize a light saber to slash through blocks. The Han Solo bird shoots first and lets his blaster do the talking. The Obi Wan bird can force push blocks and pigs out of the way. And the Chewbacca bird just plows through everything.
While adding new characters and new levels, Rovio keeps the game play familiar and doesn’t change it up too much. They do add elements of Angry Birds Space to some of the levels so it would be best to brush up on the physics of Angry Birds Space if you want to get three stars on those levels.
Angry Birds Star Wars is a wonderful combination of two successful franchises. The game does not sacrifice playability just for the sake of a licensing deal. And with Rovio’s continued future support with new levels, the force will be with Angry Birds Star Wars for a long time.
We give Angry Birds Star Wars 5 stars out of 5.
